The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Chapter, has issued directive instructing its members to avoid meetings convened by the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor Bernard Odoh, citing concerns over his legitimacy.

The Chairman of the union, Professor Kingsley Ubaoji, who gave the directive in a statement, urged ASSU staff members not to attend Odoh’s meetings so as not to give credibility to what he described as an illegitimate claim to office.

He said that Professor Odoh’s appointment has been nullified by both a Court order and the Federal Ministry of Education, rendering any authority he claims invalid.

Ubaoji warned that any members attending those meetings would be sanctioned, emphasizing that ASUU’s stance aims to uphold the university’s stability and protect the institution’s integrity.

He further cautioned ASUU members to disregard any invitations or information regarding meetings led by Odoh, encouraging vigilance in staying informed of any developments related to the ongoing issue.

The statement stressed ASUU’s commitment towards maintaining academic integrity and called on members to stand united to preserve the university’s credibility amidst unfolding dispute.
