
Anambra Police arrest two persons including a native doctor for alleged armed robbery and kidnapping
The Joint security forces comprising Police and Anambra Vigilantes busted a Shrine of a Native Doctor at Uru, Abagana, following the testimony of a rescued kidnap victim last Friday, by 6 pm near Abagana Girls Secondary School.
In a release, the state Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that two suspects were arrested, while a manhunt has been launched on two other suspects.
SP Ikenga also said that Items recovered from the suspects include one pump action, the victim’s vehicle, rope, horsewhip and other incriminating items.
He listed the suspects to include one Maduabuchukwu, Ikechukwu Okafor age 30yrs, and Nweze Chijindu aged 38yrs all natives of Abagana, while One Sopuluchukwu Nweze and Sunday Nwakanze aged 30yrs are presently at large.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was lured to the location by a phone call allegedly initiated by Sunday Nwakanze.
He said that the victim was abducted at gunpoint, dispossessed of valuables, and transported to a shrine where he was restrained using ropes and had his mouth sealed.
He further informed that the two suspects confessed to the crime and are currently assisting the Police with information for possible arrest of other gang members.

In a related development, the Joint Security Operatives comprising Police and Anambra Vigilantes, last Friday by 10:30 am, neutralized a member of an armed robbery gang operating along Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu Road and recovered one Ak47 rifle, two magazines and five rounds of live ammunition.
The Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement, pointed out that the Joint Security Forces responded swiftly and acted on credible information about the planned activities of the notorious gang in the area.
According to him, the Operatives engaged the criminals and subdued them in gun duel, while some of the gang members escaped with bullet wounds.
He added that the Operatives have further sustained security dominance in the area and activated an onslaught of operations against the fleeing gang members.
To this end, the Command therefore, urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their area.
