A widow, Christiana Monday, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over the alleged murder of her husband, Raphael Monday, at a government-owned cocoa farm in Ikom, Cross River State.
In her petition dated November 29, Christiana accused an unnamed man of masterminding the killing and alleged police complicity in the case. She appealed to the IGP and the Cross River First Lady, Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu, for justice.
Christiana recounted that her husband left for the farm on September 26 but never returned. She later learned of his death through conflicting accounts, including a police officer’s claim that he was arrested. The widow identified her husband’s body at the mortuary after days of inquiry.
Christiana also alleged an attempt to bribe her family with ₦400,000 to silence the case. Now caring for her three children alone, she called for justice and support, emphasizing her family’s plight.
Police investigations are reportedly ongoing.
