A total of ten students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University are said to have lost their lives in road crashes across the State within ten months.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kate Omenugha, made this known in her speech at the Third Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture series, which took place at the university on Friday.

Professor Omenugha revealed that those unfortunate incidents occurred within 10 months of her assumption of office, due to lack of residential apartments (hostels) and school buses for the students who reside in neighboring communities.

She lamented that as a mother, she felt terribly bad, recalling that the students lost their lives in tricycle, that is Keke, and motorcycle, that is Okada accidents along inter-community roads leading to the university.

She pointed out that the loss of those brilliant students could have been avoided if they had hostels in the university.
