The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has explained why the national grid collapsed again.
Making the clarification in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Tuesday, TCN explained that the grid collapsed around 1:52 pm on Tuesday due to series of lines and generators trippings.
According to data from the National Control Centre in Osogbo, Osun State, the company clarified that the grid collapse was not total, but partial, The firm said restoration of the grid has commenced with bulk power supply back to Abuja around 2.49 pm Tuesday.
Enugu Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the grid collapse in a notice to customers on Tuesday.
At the time of filing this report, parts of Abuja are still in darkness.
In 2024 alone, the national grid has collapsed at least nine times, plunging the country into darkness.
Again, it would be recalled that parts of Northern Nigeria had been under darkness for weeks due to vandalised TCN facilities in the region.
