Yuletide Road Repairs Underway in Southeast Nigeria
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians of smooth travel during the Yuletide, with road repairs ongoing across Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra States.
Federal Controller of Works in Enugu, Mr. Smart Okpi, says bad spots on major highways, including the Enugu-Abakaliki Road and Enugu-Port Harcourt Dual Carriageway, are being fixed under the “Ember Months Repairs” initiative.
In Ebonyi, FERMA has launched “Operation Connect to Your Destinations,” tackling failed portions of roads like the Abakaliki-Afikpo and Abakaliki-Ogoja highways. Meanwhile, Enugu State is addressing critical urban and rural link roads under Governor Peter Mbah’s leadership.
Despite these efforts, motorists lament prolonged travel times and rising vehicle maintenance costs. They urge governments to expedite repairs to ease travel and improve safety. Authorities promise to complete key repairs before the festive season
